PMSCO Healthcare Consulting (PMSCO) has been fully accredited by URAC as an independent review organization (IRO) since 2003. As a fully-accredited URAC organization, PMSCO is held to high quality and operational standards and provides clients with the assurance that reviews will be conducted utilizing evidenced-based medicine, standards of practice, and qualified opinions of experts in specialty fields. URAC accreditation also assures that independent review organizations are free from conflicts of interest and establish qualifications for physician reviewers.

PMSCO's IRO database consists of 480 unique physicians, many of whom are triple board certified bringing the total available reviewers to over 1,000. PMSCO contracts with academic and teaching centers as well as physicians to provide medical review services. PMSCO's independent reviewers are board certified in their respective specialties, actively practice clinical medicine, and participate in corporate quality improvement programs and corporate peer review programs.

PMSCO reviewers provide determinations of covered services, medical necessity, medical appropriateness, and experimental/investigational procedures. PMSCO also provides grievance and appeal services and reviews for exceptions to mandatory generic prescribing policies.

PMSCO's client list includes both large and self-insured employer groups providing benefits to millions of covered lives. Additionally, PMSCO provides external peer review services to large health systems and smaller community hospitals.
